Fresh Paint Sells Homes. Start by Recycling the Old Paint.

What to Do With Old Paint in Denver

Leftover paint sitting in the garage? Here’s how Denver homeowners can recycle old paint responsibly—and why a fresh coat might be the smartest upgrade before selling.

What to Do With Old Paint in Denver

Let’s talk about the half-used paint cans sitting on the shelf in your garage. Most of us have them—a leftover gallon from a quick project, a color that didn’t quite work out, a can saved “just in case.”

The problem? Paint isn’t something you should toss in the trash or pour down the drain.

The good news: much of that leftover paint can actually be recycled into new paint, giving it a second life instead of sending it to the landfill.

Since 2019, our team has partnered with GreenSheen Paint, a Colorado company that specializes in turning leftover paint into high-quality remanufactured paint. Over the years, neighbors have pulled up with trunks full of half-used cans, mystery colors from old projects, and paint they’ve been meaning to deal with “someday.” Together we’ve collected hundreds of gallons of paint, keeping it out of the waste stream and giving it a second life.

Old paint? Recycle it.

Where to Recycle Paint This Spring (Just in Time for Earth Day)

If you’ve been wondering how to dispose of old paint in Denver, these upcoming GreenSheen events make it easy.

While we won’t be hosting a paint collection event this year, we encourage anyone with leftover paint to participate in one of the upcoming GreenSheen recycling events:

Have a larger stash? GreenSheen also offers residential pickups for 10 gallons or more. Call a few neighbors, combine what’s been sitting in garages around the block, and organize a pickup together.

Fresh paint? That sells homes.

The Best Pre-Sale Upgrade? Paint.

When preparing a home for sale, few improvements deliver more impact for the cost than a fresh coat of paint. It instantly brightens a space, neutralizes bold or outdated colors, and helps a home feel clean and well cared for.

In today’s market, buyers are rewarding sellers with homes that feel fresh, current, and move-in ready. A simple repaint, thoughtful accent wall, or just touch-ups can make a house show better, photograph better, and feel well maintained.

Quick Seller Tip
Fresh paint does three powerful things:
  • Neutralizes bold or dated colors
  • Makes a home feel clean and well maintained
  • Helps photos and showings feel brighter and more current
